I started my 6-day trip on 28th October 2024 though it stressed 10 days. During my trip, I hiked several mountains but stayed in a hotel or lodge. On the 3rd day of my journey, I planned to camp on Marayong Tong Hill in Bangladesh. As planned, I started my journey from Thanchi and faced several situations. Journey to Marayong Tong Hill
From Thanchi, Bandarban (Which is a tribal village), I started my Journey to Alikadam, Bandarban to hike and camp on Marayong Tong Hill. I hired a bike for $5 to get there. The road was so beautiful that I can’t even describe it in words. You have to see in your own eyes. The reason is the road goes along the mountains. So landscapes look mesmerizing.
My Hired Rider Left me after fixing the Motorcycle
When the bike was going through the top of Dim Hill, we were in the clouds and it felt cold. You can clearly see this on my YouTube blog. In the middle of my journey, the motorcycle started disturbing so my rider tried to fix the motorcycle and I started to look around and touch clouds and take some videos. But the problem is after fixing the motorcycle, the rider left me. So obviously I got worried as I didn’t have his mobile number.
So, I started walking and saw another bike coming. I asked them if they saw my rider. They told me, they saw one who stopped at the top of the hill and searching for me. After knowing, I quickly climbed up and found him. That was a horrible experience. However, we started our journey again and stopped at several places to take videos, and photos and drink tea at a tea stall. I can’t describe the landscape I saw. That was a truly amazing ride.
Hiking to Marayong Tong Hill
After 4-5 hours we reached Alikadam and then headed to Marayong Tong Hill. This journey costs me another $1.5 and takes 30-40 minutes. Now it’s time to hike to the top of the hill. Here this hill has some waterfalls where you can bathe if you wish. The trail was beautiful and you will also find a Tribal village on the way. It’s advisable not to enter this village as your presence will disturb their activities.
Okay, I enjoyed a lot in this hike and caught rain several times during my hike. I will tell you about this hiking experience in another article. Finally, finished the 4 km trail and I reached the top of the hill. The view was really beautiful. Only the luckiest person can camp at this place with its incredible surroundings.
I Can’t Camp on Marayong Tong Hill 😟
The point is I’m not allowed to camp here as I’m alone. I will have to hike another hill while it was really hard to climb this one. I don’t know what to say I was completely speechless. What should I do? I have a dream to camp on a mountain and on the other way my body won’t take more stress. However, I spent some memorable moments at this place.
Now I will go down and have lunch and then start hiking to another hill. The road condition of that mountain is really bad. Sometimes, we had to leave the road, walk through the jungle, and climb with the support of trees.
Hiking To Moyta Tem Hill for Camping
That time I was alone and now I have 3 partners and two guides are coming with us carrying food, and items for barbeques. There are several mountain streams flowing across the road. Locals are bathing in them and doing their daily workings. This time it is getting really hard for me to hike. My partners are energetic and I already hiked to one hill. But I made up my mind to camp at the top.
The main problem is time! If we can’t walk quickly we won’t be able to reach before dark. And this place gets worse at night as it has no clear trail and we have to leave the trail so as not to slip. It’s already dusk and we have more trail left.
First Time Hiking at Night
It was my first time walking on a trail in the jungle at night. And this is a mountainous trail. I think you understand my situation. My legs were not taking more and I didn’t know how I was climbing. I was questioning myself why I had to climb and camp on this hill. But I found out my partner’s situation is worse than mine. Two of them are afraid and can’t even walk. So one guide is staying with them with the flashlight and another one with us.
Night: We reached On Moyta Tem Hill
After a strong effort and intention, we finally reached the top of the Hill. We were really happy just didn’t cry out. It was dark but we were able to see the landscape. We had no idea that one day we would be staying in this kind of place. Was really happy!
We take 2 liters of water and use a small amount to wash our face, legs, and hands. After freshening up waited for others and when they arrived we listened to music for around one hour and talked about the journey, and the place we are currently in and prepared local food “Jhalmuri”.
Preparing Barbeque
Around 10:00 PM we started preparing Barbeque with the help of guides and in the meantime, they showed us fire tricks. There were many things we did. It was and Amazing night. It’s like we are in another universe. Oh, within this time period, clouds go away and the Moon peaks at us. It was really beautiful to witness the full Moon from a Hill and the environment become more mysterious.
Rain Came While Sleeping in the Tent
After enjoying, and watching the moon, and stars, we went to sleep at 2:40 PM. Things were good, but around 4:54 AM, I woke up, felt wet near my legs, and heard raindrops on our tent. Still, I tried to sleep but couldn’t as water was coming more.
Morning View of a Mountain
I sat for 40-50 minutes then went out to look around. The view we saw was fascinating! Took some photos and videos and looked around. We saw clouds below us and when the sun rose, clouds also rose up. You can clearly see this from my blog on my YouTube channel.
We didn’t see this view yesterday as we arrived at night. But now the landscape is in front of us. What a tranquil place it was! You will hear birds tweeter and leaves of Banana trees are making a beautiful tune. Overall, it was completely mesmerizing! Although, I don’t like to visit a place twice, but here I will definitely make another trip if I get another chance.
